Gummy Smile In Oakgrove, Milton Keynes

Nothing beats a great smile, however many people feel self-conscious about their smile, especially if they deem it to be gummy. Well, we have great news! A gummy smile can be fixed, and all without the need for surgery.

A gummy smile, also known as excessive gingival display, is when you smile and you feel there is too much gum tissue showing above your top teeth. It can be caused by many things, such as a short upper lip, small upper teeth, or excess gum tissue (to name a few).

There are many treatment options that can correct a gummy smile, and the good news is it is pretty easy to fix without surgery, by using injectables in your upper lip to prevent your lip from lifting too high when you smile and exposing your gums.

So why not book in a FREE consultation with one of our qualified clinicians who can discuss your options and have you feeling confident again with your gorgeous grin.

You’ll have lots of time to ask them questions and talk through other peoples experiences of the same treatment.

You might be surprised to hear that the definition of a gummy smile is hugely based on perception, with some people thinking that anything above 2mm of gum showing is deemed gummy, whereas others would say above 4mm.

Whatever your thoughts, if your confidence and wellbeing are being affected, then it’s time to make a change.

If your upper lip is the cause of your gummy smile then our non invasive treatment could be perfect for you. We use a natural injectable treatment which is injected into your top lip, working as a muscle relaxant so that your top lip doesn’t expose as much of your gum when you smile.

Lip fillers may also be a suitable option to improve the look of your gummy smile, by volumising your lips to cover your gums.

First up you will have a free consultation with our qualified clinicians who will find out the source of your gummy smile.

Once the source has been identified, different options will be explored, and we will put together a treatment plan tailored to you. We may need to take digital impressions of your gums and teeth.

If you are happy with the process, the next step is the treatment. It’s a very straightforward procedure where a fine needle is used to inject your upper lip.

The treatment only takes 15-30 minutes and there is relatively no downtime so you will be in and out in no time.

You’re all done. Now it’s time to go home and relax. You should expect to see results in a few days.

More about Gummy Smiles

Depending on the treatment you get it can cost anything from £200 upwards.

The main causes of a gummy smile are:

  • Too much gum tissue showing
  • Small upper teeth
  • A short upper lip
  • An abnormal dental eruption
  • Upper jaw bone growth

It isn’t bad to have a gummy smile, but if you are feeling self-conscious about the amount of gum tissue showing, you may want to explore options to fix it. A gummy smile, however, can be associated with poor oral health and you could be at risk of gum disease, bad breath, inflamed and painful gums.

You should expect to see initial results within 3 days, with your new gorgeous smile being fully visible at 14 days post treatment.

Our gummy smile treatment is a non-surgical but also not-permanent option, and will last up to four months.

There is minimal pain and all you should feel is a tiny pin prick of a needle.

As with any cosmetic treatment, there may be side effects. Your skin may go a bit red, sore, bruised or swollen around the treatment area, but that should settle in a few days.
