Dental Implants

Do you suffer from unstable teeth, bone loss, gum disease or dentures that keep slipping? Or are you self-conscious about your smile? We can offer you a life changing solution with same day dental implants.

Dental Implants are a life changing treatment that replaces missing or loose teeth with a permanent single tooth that never has to be removed. The dental implant is fixed to the jawbone, in effect replacing the tooth that came before it.

Dental implants are available to most people due to the nature of the surgery.

You will need to consider your current dental health and the condition of your gums and jawbone before we can offer you a treatment plan. We offer dental implant consultations from our state of the art implant clinic in the heart of Milton Keynes.

The clinic has been purpose built to offer our patients access to, not only the latest dental technology but also a wealth of experience from our dental implant team.

Call today or click here to book your consultation at our Milton Keynes practice and find out how dental implants can change your life.

Dental Implants are fitted in a two-stage process from our clinic in Milton Keynes:

Firstly, the implant is fitted into the jawbone. This is a titanium fixing that creates the base to which the abutment and implant is fixed. This is a simple procedure and can be carried out without the need for sedation. However, sedation is available for patients who prefer it. A temporary crown and abutment will then be fitted to the implant while we wait for the implant to integrate and heal. The tooth is designed to match your smile and will not look out of place in your mouth. We can always make some minor adjustment should it be needed.

Once this has been done we will craft a brand new porcelain tooth for you that fits your smile perfectly. This will then be fitted, completing the dental implant procedure.

The procedure is carried out from our brand new, purpose built dental theatre in the centre of Milton Keynes. It is located on Atlas Road, next to the Waitrose and across from the Costa.Claydon Dental Milton Keynes

This is a difficult question to answer as the treatment scale is so varied. A single dental implant costs £2,500. However, multiple dental implants work on a sliding scale to make them more affordable for larger treatments.

There are many ways to pay for the treatment and the box on the right-hand side offers some guidance on how you might be able to spread the cost over several years, making the treatment accessible to all.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us directly on 01908 771 170 or click here.

Dental implants have been around for over 20 years now, however, the technology is always improving. They are becoming increasingly popular as a replacement for dentures and other forms of semi-permanent dentistry, as they are much more reliable and don’t need to be removed to be cleaned or to eat.

Our dental implant team is led by Maria Hardman who has a special interest in dental implants. She has successfully completed dental implants for over 1,000 patients to date.

Maria travels to Milton Keynes to provide dental implant consultations and carries out the procedure from our state of the art clinic in the heart of Oakgrove.

TESTIMONIALSNick Before and After Dental Implants

Same day solution to the result of poor dental hygiene.

Nicolas had a fear of going to the dentist and this had led to his oral hygiene suffering greatly. Over the years, this led to loose and missing teeth that could not be filled with dentures.

Nicolas took advantage of our dental implant consultation, which allowed him to consider the treatment that would be right for him. Once he had decided to go ahead he made an appointment the following week and the treatment was all completed on the same day.

“I took things at my own pace and felt totally in control of the whole process. I didn’t feel any discomfort. Everyone helped me and the whole team was knowledgeable and approachable.”

Janice Before and After Dental Implants
Janice needed a full upper and lower arch of dental implants, as she had lost several teeth in the past. She didn’t want to use a removable denture.

Attracted to our same-day dental implant procedure, Janice left the surgery that afternoon with a brand new smile. Our service not only transformed her teeth, but also gave her a new confidence to smile and feel proud of her teeth.

Are you wondering if dental implants can do the same for you? Then call our dental practice in Milton Keynes and book a dental implant consultation to find out if dental implants are right for you.

Leonard Before and After Dental Implants
Leonard had been losing teeth over a long period of time. This not only affected the way he ate, but also his confidence to smile.

Wondering if dental implants were right for him, Leonard booked a dental implant consultation with our team and found out about same-day dental implants.

For Leonard, knowing that he could receive a complete upper and lower arch of teeth in just one day led to his decision to proceed with the treatment.

The transformation was incredible and without a doubt has changed Leonard’s life.

Lily Before and After Dental Implants
Lilly had had her current veneers for years, and they were starting to look tired and discoloured. She loves to smile but was embarrassed to show her teeth.

After meeting with our dental implant team, Lilly decided to have them all replaced using our unique same-day dental implant treatment.

As you can see, this completely transformed Lilly’s teeth and the aesthetic look of her face. These types of transformation are a real pleasure to create. The look on Lilly’s face when the procedure was complete was priceless.

Linda Before and After Dental Implants
Linda hadn’t been to the dentist in over 20 years due to a past bad experience. Her veneers looked old and discolored, and her reluctance to visit the dentist meant she had not been able to find out the options available to her.

However, after Linda had met our dental implant team, she realised that there was nothing to be afraid of. She decided to go ahead with the same-day dental implant treatment.

In Linda’s own words: “The confidence my new smile has given me makes it feel like my whole life is starting again”

Nick Before and After Dental Implants
Due to a gag reflex, Nicolas had not visited the dentist for many years. This had led to many gaps in his teeth that could not be corrected by using regular dentures.

Choosing the popular same-day dental implant option, he decided to have both his upper and lower arch of teeth replaced.

Nicolas could not be happier with his new teeth and, judging by the before and after photographs, it’s easy to see why.

Yvonne Before and After Dental Implants
Yvonne had always been scared of the dentist and this inevitably meant her oral health had fallen behind. This caused further dental issues which led to her teeth becoming loose.

After deciding that same-day dental implants were right for her, the treatment was completed swiftly and the transformation is incredible. In her own words: “I look younger, I feel younger and my confidence is back’.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a titanium screw, or as a dentist would say, abutment, that replaces the root of a tooth that has either fallen out or been removed. Once fitted to the jawbone, a new false tooth or veneer is fitted to it to replace the missing tooth.

Dental Implant FAQ

How long will dental implants last and are they safe?

Dental implants have a success rate exceeding 97%, and as long as you continue to care for them there is no reason they won’t last you a lifetime.

Dental implants should be treated as your own teeth. So if you are making regular appointments with your dentist and hygienist this will ensure you get the maximum use out of them and reduce the risk of a replacement being needed in the future.

As with your natural teeth, if you neglect them you may start to see the effects of gum disease and other dental hygiene problems.

As with any surgery, different people’s bodies react in different ways. However, choosing a surgeon that has a special interest in dental implants is essential.

Do I need to replace all of my teeth with dental implants?

No. The beauty about dental implants is that they can be used to replace just one or two teeth, or used to replace an entire upper and lower arch of teeth. This makes the treatment very versatile and therefore suitable to a wide range of dental patients.

Are dental implants always used to replace missing teeth?

Before finding out if dental implants will work for you, we will need to carry out a dental examination and appropriate x-rays and or scans. This will allow our dentist to assess the health and condition of your oral hygiene, and to find out if the bone of your jaw is adequate to accept a dental implant.

If there is not enough bone to accept the dental implant, we can usually offer you treatment that prepares the jaw to accept one.

Dental hygiene is also important as any signs of gum disease can cause infection when the dental implant is fitted. We may recommend a course of hygiene visits prior to having the dental implant and this will ensure that your jaw and gums are nice and healthy to receive the new implant.

Will having my dental implant hurt?

We do everything possible to make you as comfortable as we can throughout the procedure. We use the latest tried and tested anaesthetic to ensure you don’t experience any pain throughout the procedure.

It is also possible for the dentist to give you a sedative for more complex cases, and this will again reduce any nervousness or discomfort during the procedure.

What happens after the implant has been fitted?

Once the implant has been placed, your jawbone will need to grow around it to hold it in place. This can take several months to achieve.

Usually, you would need to wear a temporary denture or bridge whilst the healing process takes place. However, we may be able to use same-day dental implants meaning the tooth is fitted at the same time as the abutment.

This allows you to leave the surgery with your new tooth or teeth in place, all in one appointment.

Are the dental implants hard to clean?

No. However, in order to prolong the life of the implant, it is important to look after it. Our dental team will provide you with a full aftercare package to maintain your dental implant/implants.

Regular flossing and brushing combined with hygiene visits will ensure, not just your implant, but all of your teeth are kept in the best condition. We usually book you in for a series of hygiene visits after treatment. This gets you used to stay on top of your oral hygiene and we can send you reminders if you wish, to make sure it doesn’t slip your mind.

Can I still get gum disease if I have dental implants?

Yes. The implant may sit inside the gum, but it does not stop you from developing gum disease. However, as long as you follow our aftercare procedure and keep up your visits there is no reason you cannot keep on top of gum disease and ensure your gums are in top shape.

Can I remove my implants like false teeth?

No. They are permanent fixtures and are essentially like your normal teeth. Should one become damaged we can easily replace the tooth and in most cases this will not require a new abutment to be fitted to the jaw.

If you have dental implants as anchors for semi-permanent dentures, otherwise known as false teeth, you may be able to remove the set of teeth for cleaning.

Do I require a dental implant for each missing tooth?

If one tooth is missing it can be easily replaced using one implant. If you have multiple teeth missing it may be possible to use a few implants as anchors and build a dental bridge to fill other gaps. This will reduce the cost of dental implants and provide a very similar aesthetic result.

When you visit the practice we can advise you on all of the options available to you.

Are there cases where the implant isn’t accepted by the jaw bone?

As long as we prepare the area to accept the implant before the procedure takes place, it is very rare that it will not be accepted. In the rare case that this does happen the implant can be removed and the cause of the failure assessed. Once we know what caused the problem the issue can be addressed and a new implant placed.

This is very rare and is another key reason to ensure you only use a qualified and experienced dental implant surgeon.

How much will it cost?

This is always the big question and we will start by saying that dental implants are not a cheap option.

The reason for this is it takes a very high level of skill to carry out the procedure, and the cost of the equipment needed in order to complete the treatment runs into hundreds of thousands of pounds.

A single implant can start from £2,500. However, the more implants that are needed the more cost-effective the price will become. You don’t simply multiply the number of implants you may need by £2,500, as this would be much more expensive than the treatment really is.

We offer a full range of payment plan options that can make paying for them as easy as possible.

Do I need an implant or can a bridge be used instead?

In many cases of missing teeth, dental bridges can be used and we do regularly use and offer them at Claydon Dental. The difference is that a dental bridge involves using the teeth either side of the missing tooth to create the bridge. This requires a small amount to be taken from each tooth in order for the bridge to be fitted.

As one tooth has already fallen out, it may be that the teeth either side are not stable enough to be used as a bridge, and reducing these teeth further may unseat them even more.

In these cases, a dental implant would be the best solution. However, don’t rule out a dental bridge if the teeth either side are in good condition.

Where do I get this treatment?

Claydon Dental have three surgeries in the UK. You can find us in Milton Keynes, Buckingham and Cheltenham. We also share a dental hospital facility in Oxford for more advanced implant cases.

Our team have over 25 years’ experience in dental implant treatments and have completed hundreds of dental implant surgeries.
